Nomads Project
This exciting new project is set to start in 2010. We have chosen to support a nomadic family living on the open steppe, about 85 km from Ulaan Baatar. The opportunities for groups and single visitors are very open.
How about a retreat to a fantastic, quiet and quite surreal place for a few days or weeks? Our visitors will be encouraged to interact with the nomadic family, helping herd the sheep and goats, milking, dairy produce preparation, sheering and grooming for cashmere and of course cooking. Other tasks could be teaching English or other subjects or learning Mongolian language.
How does it work? Well after initial contact with you we will make the arrangements with the host nomadic family. Meet you upon your arrival and after a briefing and orientation drive you out to your new temporary home. We will ask for you to pay a nominal fee that will cover the food you eat and for your accommodation. In addition to this you are asked to pay a fixed donation (in $ and depending upon your duration) which will be used by the family to help meet their needs. (example, school fees, repars to tackle, replacing shears, water collection, etc)
Here is a gallery of the nomadic family and their secluded valley on the steppes.
