David Taylor

David Taylor brings over 20 years of senior management experience in public sector HR roles and almost 20 years of working as a freelance consultant across the private sector. He runs his own limited company (Aurora Perceptions Ltd) from his base on the Black Isle. In addition to his specialism in psychometrics, he works in the Central Belt and across the Highlands providing support, coaching and mentoring to individuals and groups who are confronting career transition issues and he has delivered business advice and training to HIE and Business Gateway programmes for almost 8 years.

David is a graduate and is a full corporate member of both the CIPD and the CMI.

His experience includes :

Training and Development – Management and personal development courses; IT and internet courses (David is an accredited ECDL trainer); training for trainers; business start up workshops.

Coaching and mentoring – both to groups and individuals, particularly those facing career crossroads, either voluntarily chosen or through redundancy. This often includes helping people work through the transition into self employment.

Business Advice to SMEs in the Highlands and Islands, mostly new start ups, since 2005.

Career Transition - including redundancy counselling and personal development for those changing roles or re-entering the job market. 

Candidate profiling – using psychometric tools to assist small and large businesses to improve the quality of selection processes and outcomes. David also has substantial experience of the recruitment function in both the public and private sectors and has designed and managed assessment centres.

David brings a range of relevant skills in the HR and business development arenas. Of particular interest to this proposal would be his 4 years’ experience of developing and running 3-day business start up workshops for HIE, which he has delivered throughout the Highland area. He offers insight into the particular challenges of business start up in this fragile area. His course participants regularly offer highly positive feedback and state that they feel empowered and able to plan their next steps once they have attended his workshops. He brings a reputation for offering training that is jargon-free, clearly structured and presented, involving and motivating.
