YEAR OF HIGHLAND CULTURE

In January, 2008 we were invited, along with other Highland Pipe Bands, to play at the Closing Ceremony for The Highland Year of Culture - 2007.  The wrong year you may think but it was celebrating the Old New Year.

20,000 people witnessed a torchlight procession through Inverness and a fireworks display on the Kessock Bridge -  The grand finale to the Year of Highland Culture.  Linda Fabiani, the culture minister, led the procession along the River Ness accompanied by fire performers and entertainment from traditional musicians, pipers and samba bands.

The £300,000 fireworks display, choreographed to music, is billed as one of the most spectacular ever seen in the UK. It was created by Groupe F, the firm behind other pyrotechnic events at the London Eye on Hogmanay and at the Barcelona and Athens Olympics.
