Roundwell Engineering Ltd has been created to - independently - take on the manufacturing side of J Shewring Ltd. Based at Roundwell Engineering Works (formerly home to the sixty staff of J S Engineering Ltd), Roundwell Engineering shares the workshops with a small number of related specialist construction firms - a useful circumstance where some of the more unusual abattoir requirements are concerned! Roundwell Engineering has both mild steel and stainless steel fabrication capacity, and is thus able to manufacture most products required.
In addition to producing the custom-designed specialist equipment often needed (recently, a stun pen capable of accommodating wide-horned Highland cattle when required), Roundwell Engineering Ltd produces the more usual items - benches, trolleys, skips, sterilisers, pelters, wash screens and so on.
Led by Jeremy Shewring, Roundwell Engineering Ltd is responding to the growing demand for small abattoirs and meat plants, who are themselves responding to the increasing desire for local meat and meat products. The company wishes to build a stockpile of abattoir/cutting plant equipment, and is currently recruiting part-time / piecework staff to boost its production during weekends and evenings.
