 Green Lace Wing. One of the green Lace Wings or Golden Eye as they are sometimes known, Diochrysa Prasina as far as I can determine from a photograph, Common but not all bad, it's a voracious eater of Aphids in the garden. |

 Large Red Damsell Fly A scattering of these on the Wick in the summer. |

 Common Blue Damsell Fly. As long as there is a Wick there will be a few of these on it. |

 White Tailed Bumble Bee One of the more common Bumble Bees on the Wick. |

 A Soldier Beetle. One of several species of Soldier Beetle, some of which are found on the Wick, I believe this one is Cantharis rustica, a carnivore. |

 Frog Spit. Frog Spit is a sort of folk name for this white froth that is found in abundance on the Wick, it is in fact covering the larva of the Frog Hopper Bug inside it |

 Wasp,Phylanthus triangulum. A predator of small Bees, known as the Bee Wolf, status is at least vunerable, one report says may soon be moved to endangered. |

 False Oil Beetle. A very abundant species in the area. |

 Common Red Soldier Beetle. A very common species shown mating. |

 Click Beetle. Wide spread, this group of several species can flick theselves into the air and land back on their legs if they found themselves on their back, they make a loud click as they do so. |

 Bee, Anthophora bimaculata A very common Bee on the Wick but prey for much rarer Wasps. |

 Bee,Bombus lapidarius The Red Tailed Bumblebee, a male on Black Knapweed.Common species. |

 Male Stag Beetle A male Stag Beetle, established on the wick, status protected. |
|
 Wasp,Ectimnius lituratus. Common on Hogweed around Middlewick. |

 Green Tiger Beetle Although common in some parts of Britain this species is red listed for Essex. It favours bare ground, is probably Britains' fastest running beetle, a carnivour as is its larvae that live in burrows. |
