Logging
Horse logging is a low impact, environmentally sensitive method of timber extraction. It has a low carbon footprint, low ground compaction and low noise pollution and is ideally suited for use on Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI's), Ancient Monument Sites and other environmentally or archaelogically sensitive sites.
Horse logging is preferable over conventional machinery in situations where:
- Selected felling is required
- Windblow extraction is required
- Removal of exotic species is required
- Damage to the remaining timber crop to be minimised
- Damage to pathways, roads and parks to be minimised
- Streams, rivers or lochs are present
- Steep or difficult terrain is present
