Tarzan
Tarzan de Cleyriat is a five year old Comtois Gelding from France. The Comtois is an old breed of draft horse originating from the Jura Mountains in France. The Comtois is a stocky powerful breed with a deep girth making it particularly suited for hauling timber. The Comtois horse is the second most popular horse in France. In Britain, however, the Comtois horse is still relatively unheard of, with Jane Wordsworth of Basingstoke being the main importer and promoter of the breed. Tarzan is one of only two Comtois known to reside in the Highlands of Scotland.

The Comtois breed was chosen by Highland Horse Logging after much research because of its compact size, power,versatility and easy nature. Tarzan was chosen specifically because of his working history and his unique character. Tarzan was driven, hauled timber and ridden in France as well as serving mares before he was gelded in 2012. Tarzan has a spirited nature and is eye catching but is also safe, hardworking and reliable in harness. It was these attributes that earned Tarzan his new postion as lead horse at Highland Horse Logging.
