About Us
Ross & Cromarty Archaeological Services (RoCAS) is a
Highlands-based archaeology consultancy firm established in
January 2010 by Mary K. Peteranna and Lynn Fraser,
both based on the Black Isle near Inverness. RoCAS provides
contract archaeology services to a wide-variety of public sectors, including construction, engineering, utilities
and forestry, as well as private individuals and community groups throughout the Highlands.
We use Juniper's Archer Field PC and Trimble's Geo-XR Rover (capable of centimetre accuracy) during
fieldwork. Our use of ArcMap and ArcPad GIS software at the desk and in the field complies with Highland
Council requirements.
We are dedicated to the archaeology and heritage of
the Highlands and maintain excellent relationships with our
Highlands- and Islands-based colleagues and with the Highland
Council Historic Environment Team. We are interested and
experienced in all types of contract, community and research-
based archaeological work. We hold First Aid qualifications
from British Red Cross and have completed Health and
Safety courses in the past.
