Anderson Births in Aberdeenshire, Banff, Kincardine and Moray

The birth data that we have relates to about five thousand Andersons born in the four counties.  Some of the dates have been extracted from actual OPR / BDM records while in other cases it is a calculated date based on age at death.   In respect of the latter we feel, common with many family history researchers, that the accuracy of age data on nineteenth century death records can be quite suspect, particularly where the individual was very elderly at the time of their death.

In addition it should be remembered that on the pre-1855 OPR records the date given in the record is often the date of baptism.

Equally worth remembering is that birth records sometimes have the added advantage of providing details of the date and place of the marriage of the child's parents.
