Renewable Electricity

The UK currently relies heavily on coal, oil, and natural gas for its energy. Fossil fuels are non-renewable, that is, they draw on finite resources that will eventually dwindle, becoming too expensive or too environmentally damaging to retrieve. In contrast, the many types of renewable energy resources, such as solar energy, are constantly replenished and will never run out.

Ofgem has warned that the danger of power shortages in the UK by the middle of the decade has risen. Spare electricity power production capacity could fall to just 2% by 2015, increasing the risk of blackouts or rationing.

More and more people are turning to renewable electricity, not just for the huge financial benefits but also the environmental benefits. Reducing the strain on the National Grid is the quickest and easiest way to ensure supply can meet demand. That is why it is essential that we all do our own part to reduce our electricity usage and invest in renewable electricity.
