About me
I have been working with children, their families, nurseries and schools as a qualified Speech and Language Therapist for over 20 years.
I am also an Auditory Verbal Therapist, having trained with Auditory Verbal UK. I work as an AV therapist with babies, children and their families via telepractise and in their homes, working closely with those involved with the child.
Until recently I was working at St Georges Hospital as the Speech and Language Therapist on the Auditory Implant Programme as well as working in private schools in London, in local nurseries and in children's homes.
In addition, I am level 1 PROMPT trained and have level 2 British Sign Language as well as being trained in both Cued Articulation and Makaton.
I have a significant amount of experience as a Trainor, providing training for those who work in schools, nurseries and for parents in a range of subject areas such as; facilitating language, developing speech sounds, developing early listening skills and developing language through audition.
With all the children, families, schools and nurseries I work with, I spend time making sure I understand how the child learns and how best to support the child in reaching their communication potential. My therapy is fun and varied and where possible, I try to move away from structured worksheets, rather making communication natural and enjoyable.
I see children with the following communication needs
- Understanding; delay/disorder
- Expressive language; delay/disorder
- Phonological; delay/disorder
- Articulation disorders
- Dyspraxia
- Dysfluency, stuttering/stammering
- Learning difficulties
- Permanent hearing loss, including children with cochlear implants
- Fluctuating hearing loss, children with glue ear
- Social/pragmatic disorders
- Attention and listening delay
