NEWS STORIES AND IMAGES

Your comments, any paperwork or images are alwaysneeded to create this site as a lasting archive of memories and material concerning those who knew and wish to know more about the Martha Frew Home.

TOM MINOGUE

Although this link does not touch the history of the Martha Frew Home, it has many resonances with some historical experiences of children and the dedicated staff who worked  in Scottish  Care or Education who did try to do their best. It is included on this website as an example of how in those times systemic prejudice against children in care created a culture of the untouchables versus those who tried to be whistleblowers.[My thanks to Tom for the dedicated work he put into this well researched document. Ed.]

JOHNNY WHITFIELD

For those who have seen these pages before, please note the new addition of Johnny Whitfield's memories. This  autobiographical record shows how children were often the last to be involved in the processes that often overtook them.

It also shows what little adult understanding existed at the Martha Frew Home for those trusted with children and babies in their care.

In the light of this record, Johnny Whitfield may give others the strength to write their thoughts and experiences of their time in the Martha Frew Home .
