Tourism Human Resources Development projects

  • 2006, Manila and Ilo Ilo, Phillipines: ITCA formulated a project for the preparation of a Human Resources Development Plan for the tourism sector of the Philippines for presentation to the UNDP for project funding of US$700,000 (UNWTO)
  • 2003 to 2005, projects in nine provinces of Saudi Arabia: ITCA contributed the HR components on nine provincial plans in Saudi Arabia over a two-year period (Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities)

 

 

  • 2002, Rabat, Morocco: ITCA conducted the Identification Mission, Feasibility Study and Project Formulation for the EU in support of the Moroccan Government's policy of developing vocational training to create employment and to improve the competitiveness of Moroccan firms. The MEDA 2 lasted 5 years for an investment of 50 million Euros - the tourism component mounted to 16.46 million (EU, AIDCO)

  • 1999, UK, Switzerland: ITCA drafted sections of a report on Human Resources Development, Employment and Globalisation in the Hotel, Catering and Tourism Sector for a tripartite meeting in Geneva from 2 to 6 April, 2001 with Professor Chris Cooper from the University of Queensland in Australia (International Labour Organisation)
  • 1999 to 2003, London, UK: Long-term contract to supervise the quality of the LCCI Travel and Tourism Examinations to ensure that they were of the required level and that contents were appropriate (London Chamber of Commerce and Industry)
  • 1999, London, UK: ITCA was commissioned to advise and develop contents and structure of LCCI Tourism and Travel courses and examinations (London Chamber of Commerce and Industry)
  • 1999, Madrid, Spain: ITCA worked with the Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS), developed a quality audit methodology to assess and accredit educational institution applying to become members of the UNWTO Business Council (UNWTO)
  • 1998, Bucharest, Romania: Development and implementation of a series of distance learning modules for 8 Ministry of Tourism staff (EU PHARE Programme) 

 

  • 1998, Madrid, Spain: ITCA produced presentation and teaching material on Tourism Policy and Strategy (TPS) course which imparts the WTO's activities and vision. The TPS course is delivered on a regular basis at UNWTO headquarters for officials of member countries (UNWTO)
  • 1997, Sofia, Bulgaria: ITCA developed and designed a conversion course to allow students from Tourism and Hospitality Institutes in Bulgaria to pursue a management course and gain a BSc qualification (EU PHARE Programme)
  • 1997, Mauritius: ITCA carried out an Identification Mission, Manpower Analysis and Human Resources Needs for the Tourism Sector in Mauritius (Government of Mauritius – Ministry of Labour)

  • 1996, Salvador, North East Brazil: ITCA carried out an Identification Mission, Manpower Analysis and Human Resources Needs for the Tourism Sector in Bahia (Sociedade Tecnopolitana da Bahia - STB, SEBRAE and the British Council)

  • 1996, Bishkek, Kyrgystan: ITCA carried out an Identification Mission, Manpower Analysis and Human Resources Needs for the Tourism Sector in Kyrgyzstan (UNWTO)
  • 1996, Aden, Yemen: ITCA worked with associate Professor Chris Cooper on a two months project assuming duties identified in the strategic plan to up-grade a Tourism and Hospitality Institute (UNWTO)
  • 1996, Santiago, Chile: ITCA carried out a study to evaluate the feasibility and manpower requirement for the establishment of an Institute of Higher Tourism Studies (Surrey Research Group, EuroChile Foundation)

  • 1995, Toledo Spain and UK: ITCA developed and co-ordinated a dictionary/thesaurus of tourism terms in 9 European Community languages; project co-ordination and development of software written in Visual Basic (ETEN - European Tourism Education Network; project funded by DGXXIII, tourism unit at the EU)
  • 1994, Bucharest, Romania: ITCA provided training and co-ordination on a management training courses for Romanian tourism and hospitality managers; co-ordination, monitoring and evaluation of inputs (PHARE Programme, European Union)
