Yarn Care

All of the yarns we use are high quality, natural fibre yarns. Great care is taken while creating our designs to ensure that we choose patterns which show off the full potential of each yarn. We also take great care at the knitting and finishing stages to make certain that the quality of the finished item is worthy of the honeypig label. We want you to enjoy our designs to the full, and to keep on enjoying them for years to come. Looking after your honeypig handknitted items is therefore very important, and the following notes should help keep them looking like new.

Additional notes on the different yarns can be found on our Yarns page. It can also be found in the individual product descriptions on our Clyde Collection page.

Note 1

Our 100% pure llama yarn is hand painted, so hand washing must be done gently and with care. Similarly, care must be taken with our 100% Superfine Merino Botany Lace, as this is a hand-dyed yarn. In both cases, some slight leakage of colour will occur, even if washed with care. This is normal.

Note 2

Due to the slight hairiness of pure alpaca yarns, they do not lend themselves to dry-cleaning. However they can be safely hand washed.

Note 3

Gently hand wash with cool water and a mild soap designed for delicate natural yarns. Agitate the item slightly in the soapy water for a few minutes, then rinse in several changes of clean, cool water. Gently squeeze out the surplus, roll up flat in a thick folded towel and press out as much moisture as possible. Dry flat, away from direct heat or sunlight. Do not spin or tumble dry.
