We are members of the British Christmas tree Growers association
and have been growing trees on a small scale since 1996.
We are located just north of Vernham Dean in Hampshire in a beautiful remote location. During December when we are open for sales, we do place directional signposts to make it a little easier to track us down!
Customers can regulary see Trevor coming back from the field with the tractor and trailer full of freshly cut trees which of course is very popular.
Our main problems to deal with are deer damage, as theres nothing more succulent than a fresh flush of Nordmann Fir growth. Our other problem which can be more difficult to deal with is dry weather and for a number of years the whole country has suffered with dry springs which can prove very difficult if not impossible for a small scale grower to keep very young trees alive.
We currently grow mainly Norway Spruce (Picea Abies) otherwise known as the Traditional christmas tree. We find that this tree still has its loyal followers as if cut relativley late and placed in a water retaining holder the tree will remain beautifully fresh. We also grow Nordmann Fir, The Blue Spruce, Fraser Fir and Serbian Spruce all of, which are a much slower growing tree.
We supply fresh foiage to the florist trade so you will potentially see our foliage in florists creations in four different counties and we also supply our hand made wreaths to serveral local farm shops. November is a very busy month for us prepping all the foliage we need.
The wreaths are made using clamp rings, which come in five sizes and are placed into the clamp which is pedal operated. The most time consuming process as with any wreath making is the preparation of the foliage into the required lengths which are usually about 5" to 8" long
We use mainly the more lush foliage from the Nordmann fir, Fraser fir, Blue Spruce or Serbian Spruce as well.
Garlands can be made to order, all hand tied either plain or decorated. In the ones shown here we have used dried oranges, pumpkino chillies cinnemon pine cones and lotus heads.
Below is a picture of Trev with a really nice large Nordmann Fir. This tree is about 20ft tall and around 12/14 years old.
Our Mistletoe is hand picked by us at a friends farm near Glastonbury, Somerset.
