 Vein Finder Here is a picture of Skye Cancer Care's new vein finder. We were able to contribute £500 to help the chemotherapy unit in Broadford hospital buy this equipment. It is now in use and nurses report that it is proving invaluable in ensuring that their patients experience is less painful. |
 Parcels of Fun Dunvegan children enjoy Dunvegan's nursery children and primary school pupils received an award of 1000 from a special Covid-19 fund set up by Falck Renewables. The funds were used to buy a parcel of fun for 52 local children, to help them (and parents too!) to cope with lockdown. |

 Calum Morrison Over the last few months I’ve been working on a personal training course here in Edinburgh. Due to lockdown restrictions, the course was made to go ahead online with zoom calls and a lot of online learning. When gyms finally opened, I was able to complete my practical assessment and become a fully qualified personal trainer. Due to the fact that these courses do not come cheap, I was very much grateful for the Dunvegan community and the Dunvegan community trust to provide me with a grant to help towards the price of the course. This took away a lot of the financial stress of it and allowed me to fully focus on performing to the best of my ability on the course. I learned valuable lessons on the course which in turn lead me to getting a job at a big gym in Edinburgh. This opportunity is great for me as it allows me to gain a load of experience in the fitness industry, which in the future I can pay back into the Dunvegan community when I'm home in Skye – which could come in the form of fitness classes, giving a different perspective of training for the North West Skye FC, or just helping the community members out by answering any questions they may have regarding fitness and health. |
 Ben Nicolson - Australia From my time in Melbourne I gained very valuable experience about the industry of construction/engineering which I am currently studying at university. I was working with a Skye man’s company, Alchemy Construct. I was mainly involved in project management and seeing how a real business operates in this industry. As well as experience relevant to my career, I would also say I have gained a lot of life experience from travelling to the other side of the world and being so far from home and managed to see and do things I never thought I would. The grant I received from the Dunvegan Community Trust really helped me financially with my day to day living costs associated with this trip. |

 Gealic - Canada trip In Canada we visited a high school and two primary schools and did presentations telling all about Skye. We also went to a Gaidhlig collage where they taught us some traditional Canadian Gaidhlig songs and dances. We attended many ceilidhs and making friends with locals and learning more traditional music and dances. We went around “Balle na Gaidheal” a village showing the history of the Scottish immigrants that landed in Canada and the struggles they faced adapting to the foreign country. The Trip was extremely interesting and I enjoyed learning about the Canadian culture and traditions as well as visiting a beautiful country. We feel that the trip was a success and hopefully some of the collage students will be arranging a trip to Skye in the next few years. |
 Amy Robson - Costa Rica Trip I am incredibly grateful for the funding I received from Dunvegan Trust. It aided me in travelling to Costa Rica in July 2017. On this trip I taught English to disadvantaged children ranging from 6-14 yeqrs in small,rural schools. This was such a fantastic and rewarding experience, and I also achieved a TEFL certificate which allows me to teach in school in any country. I will remember this trip forever. |

 Guides Trip Thanks to a grant from Dunvegan Windfarm Trust, Dunvegan Brownies were able to attend a weekend camp at PGL Dalguise along with 300 other brownies from across Inverness-shire. They took part in abseiling, archery, giant trapeze, climbing wall,sensory trail and survival skills just to mention a few! They all now have fantastic memories of helping Brownies celebrate their 100th Birthday. Being a greater distance away than the the rest pf the County, we rely on grants such as this to enable us to participate at the same level ." |
 Ambulance response vehicle The Car was funded by both Dunvegan and Struan Trusts. It now means that the second ambulance crew member can travel directly to an incident or meet the ambulance enroute, which reduces the time it takes for the ambulance to reach its destination. |
