Fishing

The Dunvegan area supports a small number of year round vessels, mainly in the relatively sheltered waters of Loch Dunvegan, fishing for prawn, lobster, brown and  velvet crab. Salmon and sea trout are farmed on the far side of the loch.

In the summer months, many small boats take to the waters of Lochs Bracadale, Bharcasaig and Caroy to catch a fry of line caught mackerel, a couple of hand dived scallops and hopefully a lobster or two for the pot.
