Crofting
A croft is a small agricultural unit, often around five hectares and sometimes with a share in the township's hill grazing.
Many crofters have other employment as well, often tourism related, and often self employed. We are builders, mechanics, fishermen, local posties; shopkeepers, waitresses and chefs; architects, accountants and artists.
Some of us work in the public sector, others support the community as part-time coastguards and firefighters, or as volunteer members of the mountain rescue team.
