Your Web of Life
The phrase the 'Web of Life' is used to refer to the inter-connectedness and inter-dependence of the huge diversity of life forms on our planet . It acknowledges that what happens in one part impacts all the others.
The same is true for your own personal web of life.
People usually decide to work with a life coach because they want to create change in some specific area of their life. At the same time, it’s essential to ensure that the strength and integrity of the whole web is maintained.
As the weaver of your Web of Life you are constantly creating and adapting your web. Maybe for long periods of time you focus on one or two areas to the detriment of others. Sometimes an area may get damaged and need repair work. Or maybe you just want a bigger, stronger, more beautiful web - a more balanced and fulfilling life.
Review Your Web
If you would like to create a visual image of how balanced and fulfilling your life currently is, draw a simple web with sections radiating out from the centre and 10 concentric circles of threads. The centre represents 0 and the outermost thread represents 10. Name the sections then, for each section, take a coloured pen and draw over the thread that represents your current level of fulfillment/satisfaction in this area of your life. You can have as few or as many sectionsas you like depending upon which areas of your life you would like to review. Below are some possibilities.
Personal Development
- Business Success
- Professional Development
- Career Development
- Creativity
- Partner Relationship
- Friends
- Family
- Spirituality
- Sexual Identity
- Stress Management
- Voluntary Work
- Social Contribution
- Health & Well-Being
What does your web tell you about the overall balance of your life?
For each are that is not already a 10 :
Write a paragraph describing how your life would be in that area if it was a 10
For example: Area 1 : Friends/Social Life/Recreation : "I am socially adventurous. I go where I want to go and do what I want to do, even if that means going on my own. I initiate conversations with people and make follow-up contact with people rather than waiting for them to contact me. I try out new places and new activities."
Perhaps this activity has identified something that you would like to look at in a free 'try it out' session?
