Not long until our Summer Show - 10th August in Rosemarkie!

Last year's Show again saw the Gordon Memorial Hall crammed with a magnificent display of flowers, produce, food, crafts and photographs. And outside, the sun shone as competitors emptied their Tubs of Tatties and visitors enjoyed their Cream Teas under the gazebos on the lawn.

This year’s Show will be held on Saturday 10th August, again at the Gordon Memorial Hall, Rosemarkie. We’re hoping for a repeat of last year (with the exception of the sudden downpour that soaked the Tub of Tatties judges as they completed their task!)  You can download the Show Schedule, which lists all the classes in the Show and explains how it works, as a Word document here, or as a pdf here. If you have any questions please get in touch.

Entering the Photography classes - print or digital

Photographs can be entered as prints (not mounted, maximum size 178 x127mm (7”x5”), 20p per entry) – bring them along to the Hall between 6:30pm and 8:00pm on Friday 9th August or between 8:30am and 10:30am on Saturday 10th August.

Alternatively, you can send digital images to bihs1955@gmail.com by Tuesday 6th August, putting your name and the class number in the filename (e.g. joansmithclass116.jpg). We will print the photo and enter it in the Show. This will cost £1 per print (including 20p entry fee), which can be paid by Paypal to bihs1955@gmail.com. There is no charge for entries to Class 114.

Help us publicise the Show

Please tell your gardening friends and family about the Show, and if you have somewhere you can display our Show Poster, like a local shop, community noticeboard, or playscheme, we’d be very grateful if you could download it here and print it off.

About us

The Black Isle Horticultural Society is a community group that holds a friendly local Summer Show, with exhibitors mainly from the Black Isle.  There are classes for Cut Flowers, Pot Plants, Fruit, Vegetables, Baking, Preserves, Crafts, and Photographs. We've also got a section for under 14s, a Novice section for people who haven't entered or won before, and we have a new class for Botanical Illustration. We particularly welcome new visitors and exhibitors. You can find out more about the Show here.

We also run a very popular spring Plant Sale, with a wide range of interesting plants, including some unusual ones. You can find more details here.

The BIHS is run by a small committee of volunteers, who meet to organise our events. If you want to find out more about the Society, to help with our events, or have any questions, please get in touch using our Feedback page.
