Floppy Or Broken Upvc Door Handles
The handles on Upvc doors should last for for a good few years however there could be a number of faults which could cause your handles to be floppy or even break.
Floppy Handles - If the handles are floppy on both sides then this could be that the multipoint lock is showing some wear and tear and the spring inside the gearbox is worn and no longer keeping the handles upright although the lock may be working fine.
To rectify this problem you could either change the multipoint lock gearbox (more expensive) or simply replace the handles for a newer style which have spring cassettes inside them, bear in mind by doing this you may need to also replace your euro cylinder as the new handles may be thicker than the old ones.
Broken Handles
We often get calls from people who have replaced their broken handles to find that the door is still not locking correctly. This is because the door lock is mis-aligned with the keeps on the frame meaning more pressure is needed on the handles to lock the door.
In this scenario the door will need to be realigned otherwise over time putting more pressure on your handles will cause them to break again and or the multipoint lock will jam/break in the open or locked postition.
