My wife and i visited Ardentinny on 12th July 2017 on a search for her Grandfather and Great Grandfathers birth place which was Drynan Cottage, with the help of some local ladies they were able to point us in the right direction and we found the cottage, whilst driving through the village we stopped at the War Memorial as we knew that another member of the family William Mackay had dies in WW1 and duly noted his name on it, however a search has led me currently nowhere in being any closer to finding out where he died or his Army number.
Are there any records held in Ardentinny concerning William and indeed any of his siblings or parents please.
Best Regards
Kelvin & Sheryll Searle (nee Mackay)

Thank you Gillian. Also for your help when we first got the project off the ground. It was invaluable.

new information board
Congratulations on the new information board opposite the toilet carpark in Ardentinny. Shame about the glaring errors though. Grass Snakes certainly don't get this far north in the UK and neither do Wood Larks!

MANY HAPPY TIMES AT ARDENTINNY
Having recently moved our mobile holiday home from Hunters Quay Holiday Village to Pease Bay in Berwickshire; we still miss our visits to Ardentinny and the surrounding area, the walks, the Beach and the Walled Garden.
It has been fascinating watching the Walled Garden develop from the derelict garden we saw when we first started visiting back in 2005. Brenda and I have been pleased to have played a small part in supporting the Walled Garden project by funding some of the necessary fire safety/H&S issues, including the necessary risk assessments. We look forward to returning with our grandson Lewis who is also a big fan of Ardentinny - we will be popping in sometime this month to facilitate the necessary fire/H&S reviews which will be due soon. Great website by the way.
