Events Calendar 2013.
March: Sunday 24th. First Hill Climb of season: Ride up to Hartland Quay in North Devon for the first Hill Climb of the season. Good day out and free to spectate. Meet at the Tamar Bridge car park at 10am. The hill climb goes on to 4:30pm and there is a pub by the quay for food and refreshments.
April 28th: Guzzi Treasure Hunt; Meet at Ivybridge Town Hall car park from 9 am for prompt departure @ 10am. A set of clues will take you around several locations throughout Devon. Follow the clues and get to the last destination. This event is in two parts; Part one will see you given clues to take you to destinations around Devon, you can work on your own or as part of a team, but please this part is intended to be fun, you will not be timed and it’s not a race to get to the last destination!. Part two will be a quiz at the Post Office Inn, Whiddon Down ( where refreshments can be purchased and they also do a nice carvery), you will be asked several questions about the locations you have visited (This could be date of building, historical info etc.) and the winner and runner up will be decided from the quiz. The first prize, which has been very kindly donated by the MGCGB Committee members, is one year free membership to the club!! We ask for a minimum donation of £2 for the event but please give generously as all monies raised on the day will be donated to the Niemann-Pick Disease Group, for more information on Niemann-Pick Disease please see their website www.niemannpick.org.uk/.
May 26th: Lizard Run; A straight forward ride down in to Cornwall to the Lizard. Hopefully meet up with our Cornish brothers and sisters for lunch. Meet at the Tamar car park for departure around 10 am.
June 28th-29th: West Devon Branch Big Chill; Our first Branch camping weekend! This is what it says it is, a quiet weekend of camping down in the beautiful and picturesque village of East Prawle on the south Devon coast. The campsite rates are very reasonable at £5 for a two man tent; no tickets required just turn up and relax. Arrive on Friday at whatever time suites you, pitch up and chill out. Saturday we’ll take a ride out along the coast road and take in some lovely scenery, and Saturday eve will mostly be spent in the unique Pigs Nose pub (CAMRA pub of year 2011 so some good ales). July 28th: Branch BBQ. Norman Pyne has very kindly offered his garden as the location for our BBQ. Norman lives over at Woodbury near Exmouth so will be a nice run over but partners are also more than welcome so please come along by whatever mode of transport takes your fancy. We will confirm times and full details closer to the time.
August 23rd-25th: International V Twin Rally, Fordingbridge. Meet up at the Turtley Cornmill for prompt departure at 8am.
September: Sunday 15th. Hill Climb at Wiscombe park nr Honiton. We’ll be leaving from the Turtley Cornmill at 10am and heading over. There is a £7 entrance charge for this event, it’s the final meeting of the season here and the motorbikes are back and should be putting on a good show with races etc.
