FAIL TO PREPARE, PREPARE TO FAIL

SEPT 2013 - BREAKING NEWS;

TIGER TALK

Rumours are now fact, as Simpson confirms The Tigers are set to return to the Darting World after a year of inactivity.

Controversy struck last season when the Tigers were deducted points for fielding an, unknown to them, ineligible player. The TT's were sitting top of the league at the current time & you have to ask yourself - would we have been docked if we were bottom? NO!

Anyway, Karma bites & one committee member guilty of 'black balling' us is now facing a lengthy ban for being a 'tea leaf'. There were others whom voted to dock us though, and it came back to bite them as we left the league with immediate effect, leaving it a 6 team league, and a waste of time.

The Tigers will never return to the awful Gilmerton league again, and instead have a bash at the much more difficult Friday night league. We will definitely NOT be the best team, but will there be a team that can match our noise, togetherness & banter?! It remains to be seen.

One for sure, The Tigers are back & baldier & beibed as ever.

Signings to date:

Lijo, Simpson, Bones, Fordo, Cooks, Hazo.

Pending:

Tiff Snr, Tony, Tiffdogg, Heid, Gary (still due Haz a score - doubtful)

**Tigers will now hail from the Liberton Rugby Club.

Tigers News: Massive well done to Kenny and Lijo who both qualified last night and will now get the opportunity to play against Darts Legend John Lowe (Even though Lijo didnt know who he was haha)

John Lowe won the World Championship title in three different decades - 1979, 1987 and 1993. He was regarded as the gentleman of the game, but he was very much a bridesmaid figure behind Eric Bristow in the early days of darts' rise to prominence - in terms of results and charisma. He met Bristow six times in the World Championship in various semi-finals and finals and it wasn't until his fourth attempt (in the 1987 final) that he managed to overcome his great rival. His record against the "Crafty Cockney" in majors was three wins and six defeats.

Lowe achieved the ultimate feat in darts on 13 October 1984 during the World Matchplay tournament against Keith Deller when he managed a nine dart finish – the sport's equivalent of a hole-in-one in golf or a 147 break in snooker. This was the first time this had ever been accomplished by any darts player while being televised. For this, Lowe won £102,000. He went on to clinch the tournament.

In addition to his three world titles Lowe has also won two World Masters titles, two British Open titles, two British Matchplay championships, two World Cup Singles and three European Cup Singles Titles, as well as countless other titles around the world in a hugely successful career. He played for England over 100 times and was captain for seven years, during which time his team were unbeaten. Legend!

For those interested there is another 7 weeks to go. 2 qualifiers each week. Wednesdays 7.30pm for an 8pm start at the Royal.

Tiger News: Ryan & Darren's 'loan' Spells have expired as they join the Gladstones league on Monday.

All the boys would like to thank them for their input over the last month and wish them all the best in Edinburgh's top league. Cheers! See you again on the 19th of November for TT V MUGS II

Next time lads.

What a start to the season as we look ahead to the first derby match v The Nest A or as Lijo would call them - 'The Mugs'.

It's always a close game when the two teams meet which resulted in four 4-4 draws In the singles last season. Both teams get on really well but on derby day we want nothing more than to ram it up each other. The standard of darts may not be 'county' like but a better atmosphere in pub darts would be hard to find - it's buzzing and you could cut the tension with a knife ;-)

Whilst majority of the A team are older, experienced guys who have been playing darts since majority of our boys were in nappies, our lads have been getting more experience over the last few seasons and we are improving. Whilst adding some cracking players this year it may be the first time that we go in as favourites. Over 1 leg of darts, dbl start its anyone's game and our boys are well aware this will be a tough, close game that could go either way.

We are buzzing for it and it will be a noisy Nest on Monday. Complaint number 4 here we come!!

OH TO BE

Bravedart: Simpson says Bring on the Nest!!!

League: Tigers beat league champions in singles and fours, remain unbeaten. Match report updated

Team News (ROYAL A): Darren Tiffney and Ross Shields out (Holiday). James Simpson to return.

News:

Complaints have apparently been put in about the Tungsten Tigers and the level of noise. On that note we would like to respond and admit that we are a noisy team with a great team sprit. We get behind our players win, lose or draw. If one of our players throws good darts we will show our encouragement by cheering them on. We NEVER shout when another person is throwing and none of our shouts are degrading or insulting towards another team or opponent.

We will continue to be noisy and get behind our boys. Its a game of darts and nothing in the rule book states you cannot shout. If these complaints continue the Gilmerton league may yet again lose another team to the Edinburgh Central League.

OH TO BE

Breaking News: Jeannie Deans pull out the league leaving only a 7 team league and only 4 Pubs.

With so many good pubs/venues vacant we have to ask ourselves what is happening to the once popular Gilmerton Darts League. It needs a revamp with fresh ideas before there is no league at all.

Just saying!

New Signings

The Tungsten Tigers welcome new 3 new signings for the new season;

Kenny Munro
Ross Sheilds
Steven Loney

3 great signings that should boost our chances of hopefully winning some silverware. Welcome to the team lads

Captain Daz Does The Double (Season 2011-12)

Finals night was a good night for the TT's as captain Darren won the Chris Telford singles and league pairs along with Fraser Houldcroft. Darren was unlucky not get the hatrick as he was narrowly beaten by 'A' rival JB in the semi of the league singles in what was a close competitive match.

Lijo and Fraser were unlucky in the semis of the league pairs as they were beaten by experienced pair Grant Shields and Rab Fagan with every leg going to the double. Bones lost in the semi of the singles and Haz lost in the 4 man team. All guys done great to qualify! hopefully we get more qualifiers and winners next year.
