Malcolm has launched out as a photographer in Portree on the Isle of Skye where he hopes to pick up business in photojournalism and taking promotional pictures.

 

I am interested in the human face. Portraits are the song in a photograph.  They can capture moods and feelings.A  picture say a landscape can be a symphony or a piece of  instrumental music but  when  a  image or figures is placed  within it it becomes a lyric. Unlike a moving picture which moves from one image to another the photograph captures that moment. Thsi is true especially of the image taken that instant unlike a  pose under studio conditions.

Background

Malcolm i s basically an artist. I've had an art and Design training in Glasgow School of Art where I did applied art.Finished in Edinburgh College of Art in Furniture design. I was in the darkroom developing my pics when not in the design studio or workshop. I've been grounded in b/w.Its got to work as a composition first!

 

Ideology

My pictures have always been accompanyments to text in my work in the Loch Lommond and Trossachs National Park or art school disserataions but now its time to free them
