Videos for BERAby Ross Campbell - 23:12 on 13 August 2011Jack Whitehead has been researching the use of multi media contributions to research and finds that they add a powerful dimension to living theories. I am presenting a paper at the BERA conference this year, you can see my proposal on my writings page. I am keen to use some video in my BERA presentation to show evidence (I hope) that I am practicing my living theory of mindfulness and learning. I have a limited amount of time to gather some video for my presentation on the 6th Septmber so i am keen to get as diverse a range of video as possible to see whether the people I work with can validate that I am developing this approach.
I have in mind to video a conversation with a carer, my chair who line manages me, a member of staff and someone who I work with from an external agency. This would give a diverse set of views and enable me to reflect on the differences and similarities in approach to how I work with people depending on my relationship with them. I think this will give me a lot of data to reflect on and consider how the energy is created as well as whether they feel I give them space to be mindful and that I support them in their learning as well as opening up an opportunity for them to help em improve my practice.
If this is a successful model it would be interesting to collect as many of these interviews with people I interact with in my practice as possible. I am sure this would be really valuable to help me improve my practice and consolidate my own learning. I think this would also be quite unique for a Chief Executive to allow the people they work with to tell them how to improve their practice in such a transparent way. It also could potentially provide a methodology for other people to use if they were keen to improve their practice.
I would also like to develop this to be able to video group discussions about how to improve practice which is about improving everyones practice. I'll start with the individual videos to begin with. I will ask for permission to post the videos on my website so that people can see them and to use in my BERA presentation which I shall also try to post online.
