In search of our Law ancestors...
I am searching for the final resting place of our great-great-grandmother, Susan [Bisset] Law. She passed away in October of 1875, and the records indicate that she was buried in Sleepyhillock on October 11, 1875. Might someone be able to check on her for us? We plan to come to Scotland and visit (from the U.S.) in July, and we would love some assistance locating her grave. Thank you for your time.

Hello Tracie,
Got your message today and. I need more info from you.
Sleepyhillock Cemetery opened in 1894 so I’m not too sure your relative was buried on the date you gave me in Sleepyhillock.
Can you give me more information about where she lived and died please?
Does the name Forsyth mean anything to you?
Thank you

John

James Craig GRAHAM
2013 marks the 70th anniversary of the death of Royal Canadian Air Force Pilot James Craig Graham of Moose Jaw, Sask., Canada. It was a mere 9 months after the Graham family had received word that their other son, pilot Robert Graham was killed when his Wellington Bomber was shot down over Dortmund, Germany James was returning from a bombing raid over Berlin in his Halifax bomber which crashed off the Scottish coast. He died enroute to shore and is buried in the Sleepyhillock Cemetery at Montrose, Angus, Scotland. If you have
the occasion to be in the vicinity, please visit his grave and say a silent prayer. His parents lost both sons to the war and were never able to visit their graves.

missing gravestones
My grandfather Robert Smith bought the plot at Sleepyhillock for his family in 1909 when his first son Robert Smith was drowned aged 12 years. The second name on the grave stone was his grandson also Robert Smith. Eventually my grandmother who died in 1948 was added to the stone and lastly my grandfather who died in 1952. There were other stones on the plot for my uncles William and Duncan but they were missing when I last came to Montrose and visited the cemetery. Can you please tell me if they are taken down as a matter of course or could someone have given permission for this to be done. I see there is a large headstone for my sister in law Harriet Geddes who died in 1987. Many thanks.
