Edith Lamond Cup 2016

Excellent entry we had 6 teams  Portree x 3 ,

Dunvegan x2, Broadford ,Elgol, and a

Southend youngsters team.

The format was round robin and with games very tight we had to cut short the draw after 5 games played each. The points from this were taken and the top four teams were Broadford and Portree joint top but Broadford edged on 1 individual point. With Dunvegan 1 3rd with Elgol 4th. So a semi final of Broadford v Dunvegan 1 (score 3-1) Portree v Elgol (score 4-0).

This all lead to the most exciting final.

Portree were 2-1 ahead when it came to the last game the mens doubles this went in Broadford’s favour so ending 2-2 it then game down to game points again this year and Broadford edged it again by 4 points to retain the cup.

Doreen and Charles v Danny and Ann      21 - 17

Morag and Nicholas v Chris and Kirsty      20 - 21

Doreen and Morag v Kirsty and Ann         17 - 21

Charles and Nicholas v Chris and Danny   21 – 16

Thanks to everyone for the coming and making it such a good day and for all the raffle prizes and prize squares it helps make a few pennies for the funds.

North via South competition 23/1/16

this was a well attended day. Sam and Becky joined the south for the day to make teams even. there were endless tough games with the games shared evenly. The North side started strongly and took a wee lead but as the South side warmed up the results started to change, in the end after a round robin of mixes and sets of levels the South came out victors. winning 45 games to 23.

Thanks to all who came to play. Thanks to the Macleod Estate Dunvegan who gave us a donation towards this event.

It was a fantastic day of games. the result was not so important but the Aberdeen team ran away with the result. though many sets went to three games with tight scores, everyone really enjoyed the play. a lot of the Skye players tookj grat confidence from this tournament and there is talk of a return match in Aberdeeen next year. some photos in album 3
