Qualifications

My academic, professional, and teaching qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law with Honours (BA Hons LLB) (London Metropolitan University) and the Cambridge University Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) (University of Cambridge).

Experience

Tuition

I have been teaching English language for colleges and privately on a freelance basis for many years (since 1983 and 1992 respectively) and had hundreds of successful students of all nationalities, backgrounds, and ages.

My students have included many businessmen and women, numerous university undergraduates and postgraduates, students on ESOL and EFL courses, lawyers, a tv producer, actors, a musician, employees of large and small companies, and many, many private individuals from all countries, backgrounds, and walks of life. Many students have been referred to me by the recommendations of others.

My classroom teaching includes ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) at E3 Level for many years at City & Islington College, London.

As well as being a fully qualified professional English language teacher, I have a legal background. I graduated in Law in 1982 and have tutored law exam technique privately for many years (since 1992), mainly at degree level, and for 13 years tutored A level law and the Contract Paper of the Council for Licenced Conveyancer's Examination for the Rapid Results College, London.

Proofreading

I am a very experienced proofreader. Proofreading has always, for as long as I have been teaching, included thoroughly proofreading, checking for errors, and correcting my students' written English, an essential requirement in professional English language tuition.

My Proofreading Service, as a service in its own right, is very varied and wide-ranging. My proofreading clients are from all over the world and have included lawyers, fiction and non-fiction authors, screenplay writers, writers of professional reports and evidence, numerous PhD, DSc, and master's degree students from a variety of disciplines, researchers, university undergraduates, many businessmen and women, employees of large and small companies, and many, many private individuals writing all kinds of documents.

Many clients have been referred to me by the recommendations of others. Many do not have English as their native language and therefore benefit from an EFL teacher's understanding of their needs in addition to a proofreader's eye for detail. Most clients return with further work. Many become regular clients and many refer their friends and colleagues to me.
