Sunday 23rd April is Drive It Day This event, which every year commemorates the 1000-mile trial that was run at the start of the 20th Century, gives enthusiasts a chance to drive their historic vehicle in celebration. For many it marks the start of a new historic vehicle ‘season’ Typically, events are organised as runs at local club level but destinations can include locations of national significance like Brooklands, the British Motor Museum at Gaydon, the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, Bicester Heritage and Lakeland Motor Museum, as well as the local Pub! For students of history, details of the original event can be seen at https://goo.gl/kk9lxr which includes links to copies of “The Autocar” which covered the event during the year 1900. The Northern Section of the Citroen Car Club is planning a run. I've asked them for details if anyone wants to join their outing. Friday 12th May - Sunday 14th May - TROY are holding a 'No Expectations Camp' at Breighton near York (see link or this month's 2CVGB magazine for details). We camped with them last year (and plan to go again this year) and it was a nice site on the banks of the river with a decent pub at the end of the field. Last year they had a road run on the Saturday. Friday 19th May - Sunday 21st May - Citroen Car Club are holding their Northern Rally at Wetherby Racecourse. This is a weekend camping rally and for the last few years we have gone on the Sunday which is their 'show and shine' day. There is also a car boot fair at the entrance to the Racecourse for anyone who needs 'retail therapy' buddy icons from www.emofaces.com | ![]() ![]() ![]() |
