Wee bit of history.......
Pitlochry Amateur Weightlifting Club was formed by Aya (Alastair)Thorne and Ron Greer in 1975.
The first training venue was Pitlochry Recreation Ground Pavillion after which the Club struggled for the next four years or so until the opening of the Pitlochry Sports Dome in 1979.The Club was based here until 1986 when the Dome was collapsed for the last time .
New premises were found in the old school science labs where the Club reached peak numbers until 1989 when the Club had to leave prior to demolition of the building.
The Club was then in abeyance until 1994 when it moved into the Atholl Leisure Centre in Pitlochry where it remains to this day.
