mcpherson family
my husbands family....his gggrandmother was Hughs sister Christina.
When William Mcpherson had the Inn in 1851 Angus Ross worked for him as an agricultural labourer. Angus married Christina in 1858 , however he didn't inherit the Inn!They sailed for Australia a few months later.

Macphersons in Edderton
Just stumbled over your webpage on a random search - my mother Shirley Macpherson born in Invergordon 1944 was descended from a Donald Macpherson born in Edderton in the early nineteenth century. They were farmers/crofters so I can't help but think there may be a connection as Macpherson wasn't a common name in northern Ross at that time. I think his father was a John Macpherson married in Edderton Kirk circa 1800. I'll check my dates and if you think there may be a connection I would be interested to hear as I think you have gone back slightly further than me!

Thank you for youur post. I am on genesreunited.co.uk, where I keep a family tree. I shall look at it later and get back to you if I can find a discernible connection.
