Pattaya (Thai: พัทยา) is a city in Thailand, located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand, about 165 km southeast of Bangkok in the province of Chon Buri.
It is Asia's premier beach resort and one of the largest centers of tourism in Thailand, with some 5 million visitors arriving each year.
Tourists visit Pattaya for many reasons including luxury hotels, beautiful beaches, superb golf courses, friendly people, excellent shopping, modest prices and a wide variety of nearby tourist attractions. Other visitors come for the world renowned nightlife. Pattaya can be reached within 1.5 hours by taxi or by frequent air conditioned buses departing from the new Bangkok international airport Suvarnaphumi (BKK)
Only 3 km. away from central Pattaya is the popular area of Jomtien. Jomtien is home to a significant British and European expat community and is highly recommended for families and those who seek a quieter holiday resort. The 6-kilometer long beach is a paradise for swimmers, windsurfers and watersports enthusiasts. Jomtien Beach is an excellent place to swim, relax and sunbathe. The golden sandy beach here is clean and is frequented by both the local Thai people and by tourists.
