Dear Mr Grayling
I am a member of a group campaigning against the Governments Workfare Scheme, a Scheme which to us seems wholly unfair.
I am not in any way anti-capitalist and do not in principle oppose the unemployed gaining work experience. I do however find it objectionable that the unemployed should be farmed out to major private companies for no extra remuneration than basic State Benefit, which we view as tantamount to ‘slave labour’.
I will continue to oppose this scheme until all organisations involved either remove themselves or amend their terms. All that is needed is a fair days wage for a fair days work and not have people forced (or blackmailed by the state) into Work Experience Schemes which do not offer this basic right.
Whilst I am being slandered by you in the media, being called such astonishing names as Left Wing, Militant and Socialist I would like to make it clear that none of these are correct. I ask that you stop using such misinformed rhetoric. We who oppose Workfare are predominantly the ‘Joe Blogs’ and take offense at being treated so contemptuously.
We come from all walks of life, and political persuasions.
I look forward to your response.

Dear Mr Byrne
I am a member of a group that is against the Governments Workfare Scheme, a Scheme which seems wholly unfair to us as a group. I note with disappointment Senior Members of The Labour Party also seem to be supporting the Workfare Scheme.

On Monday 27 February we spent the evening posting messages like this to Boots UK
'I object to Boots participating in the Governments Workfare Scheme which I believe exploits the unemployed. I shall be boycotting all Boots stores and actively encouraging all I know to do likewise until Boots leaves the scheme'to 'Boots UK'.
On 29th February Boots announced it was withdrawing from workfare schemes.
@asda Please stop exploiting jobless & jeopardising your permanent staff by taking part in #workfare We will #boycottasda until you do!
