Expeditions & community projects in Morocco for your school or youth group

Berber Treks are able to tailor make an expedition or community project for your school or youth group. Itineraries can be designed to fit the period time and budget that is suitable for your group. 

Construction & maintenance projects

We can organise your community project phase in Morocco. Examples of previous projects included building a nursery in Arg a small Berber village in the High Atlas mountains, planting vegetables in Ait Igrane a village enroute of the Toubkal  circuit trek and decorating a new school building in Tagleft village some 300km north east of Marrakesh. Simply tell us how much you aim to fund raise for materials for your project and we will design your itinerary accordingly.

Berber families experiences 

Participants will have authentic experiences in small Berber villages carrying out the same daily activities as the Berber families. Activities on residential depend upon your gender. Girls will help with cutting hay, washing clothes, cleaning the house and preparing traditional food such as tagine, bread and mint tea. Girls will also have the opportunity to dress up in the local costumes, makeup and have henna tattoos done. Boys will go to the market, help with cutting wood, building maintenance, fruit picking in the orchards, managing livestock and playing football with the village children. Trekking expeditions

We recommend the 7 day Toubkal circuit trek for your expedition, which combines the beautiful High Atlas panoramas with the time to explore Berber villages and culture. From the first day of trekking you will be immersed in everyday Berber life watching the locals working in their terraced fields and tending to their animals. This itinerary involves early starts and strenuous trekking days, moving from camp to camp each day but you will be rewarded with many fine photo opportunities, in particular at the summit of Jebel Toubkal 4167m. At the end of the day you will be able to relax in camp and enjoy a cup of mint tea or paddle alongside refreshing rivers and the turquoise shores of Lac D'ifni 2295m. You will be sleeping in 2 man tents and trekking with a day pack whilst your main luggage is portaged by mules. All meals are provided whilst on trek by our expedition cook and your trek will be led by qualified Moroccan guide who speaks English fluently. 

Rest & Relaxation

During your R&R phase in Marrakesh we can organise visits to the hamman, Oasira water park and guided city tours. If you would like to spend some time on the Atlantic coast we can organise your hotel accommodation in Essaouira. There you will have the option of surfing or taking an camel trek along the beach and camping overnight in the sand dunes. If you wish to go further afield we recommend our Sahara tour where you can visit many attractions including the Tizi n Tichka mountain pass, Kasbah Telouet and several film locations. Finally you will take a camel ride into the Sahara desert staying in an authentic Bedouin tent with traditional music and dinner under the majestic stars.
