Players Code of Conduct

You are the most important people at the club and in the game of football, and we are all aware of how good it feels to come of the pitch with a win. The only way of gaining even more satisfaction is to come off knowing you won fairly and with no animosity towards an opponent. Only then can you call yourself a true winner, and shake your opponents hand at the end of game and mean it. You personally have a responsibility to the game, the club, your opponent, your manager, your supporters, and most importantly to yourself. Here at Marston Green, fair play is vital to our relationships with other clubs and you are expected to uphold these traditions. To help you maintain our standards, you must: 
1.        Players should make every effort to develop their own sporting abilities in terms of skill, technique, tactics and stamina.
2.        Players should give maximum effort and strive for the best possible performance during a game, even if his or her team is in a position where the desired result has already been achieved.
3.        Players should set a positive example for others, particularly young players and supporters.
4.        Players should avoid all forms of gamesmanship and time wasting.
5.        Players should always have regard for the best interests of the game, including where publicly expressing their opinion on the game and any particular aspect of it, including others involved in the game.
6.        Players should not use inappropriate language.
7.        A Player should make every effort, consistent with Fair Play and the Laws of the Game, to help his or her own team win.
8.        Players should resist any influence that might, or might be seen to, bring into question his or her commitment to the team winning.
9.        Players should know, and abide by, the Laws, rules and spirit of the game and the competition rules.
10.     Players should accept success and failure, victory and defeat, equally.
11.     Players should resist any temptation to take banned substances or use banned techniques.
12.     Players should treat opponents with due respect at all times, irrespective of the result of the game.
13.     Players should safeguard the physical fitness of opponents, avoid violence and rough play, and help injured opponents.
14.     Players should accept the decision of the Match Official without protest.
15.     Players should avoid words or actions, which may mislead a Match Official.
16.     Players should show due respect towards Match Officials.
17.     Players should abide by the instructions of their Coach and Team Officials, provided they do not contradict the spirit of this Code.
18.     Players should show due respect towards the Team Officials of the opposition.
19.     Players should show due respect to the interests of supporters.
