80th Anniversary Season
2014 marks the 80th Anniversary Season of Lochs FC.  Formed in 1934, originally as Leurbost, and playing in blue at the Creagan Dubh, Lochs FC has moved on to great things since then, winning the Highland Amateur Cup twice. However, you can still watch them play at the Creagan Dubh in the footsteps of the original players of the 1930's.  If you haven't managed to get to a game in recent seasons why not come along to support your local team during this their 80th year.

Lochs FC would like to thank all those who helped at and contributed to our stall at the Lochs Show.  The club raise £1,000 on the day.  Many thanks to you all.

Lochs games against West Side and United scheduled for this week have both been postponed due to the death of Robert Mackenzie (Leurbost) father of former player and manager Robbie Mackenzie and grandfather of Peter and Robert Mackenzie(players) and David Macmillan(player/manager).  The club would like to extend its deepest sympathy to the Mackenzie family at this sad time.  Our thoughts are with you.

Friday 9th May will be a big day for Team Manager/Player David Macmillan as he and his long time girlfriend Charlene Mackenzie intend to tie the knot and become Mr. & Mrs. Macmillan.  We wish them both all the best for the future.
 
The Patter(or should that be Peter) of Tiny Feet
Congratulations to Peter Mackenzie(Lochs Captain) and Diane Murray on the birth on their son Leo.  Little Leo has a strong Lochs pedigree.  His Grandfather, Calum Murdo, was the first Lochs player to raise aloft the Lewis & Harris League Championship Trophy when Lochs won the League for the first time in 1995.  His Great Grandfather, Angus Macleod (Aonghus Iain Mhurchaidh Aonghuis Ailean) was the driving force behind the club in the post war period until his untimely death in 1977.  So, no pressure wee man.  Remember Maroon is the colour not blue.

2014 Squad
 
Lochs have made two interesting signings during the pre-season period.  Calum Tom Moody has rejoined from Carloway and Gordon Mackenzie has joined from United.  Calum Tom has played for Lochs 122 times.  Most of these appearances came between 2002 and 2004.  Since joining Carloway he has remained a regular for Lochs in the Eilean an Fhraoich Cup and is now rejoining the Maroons for the 2014 campaign.  Gordon Mackenzie  joins from United and will probably share goalkeeping duties with Cameron Houston. 
 
Robert Mackenzie has been training with the squad this pre-season after missing almost two complete seasons through injury.  Following surgery on his injured knee Robert hopes to return to first team football this season. Since making his debut in 2004 Robert has played 135 times for Lochs scoring 33 times.
These three players will add experience and depth to the squad for the coming season.
 
Surprise Wedding Bells
New signing Gordon Mackenzie surprised us all by visiting Gretna Green and getting hitched to his young lady Diane Macleod in December 2013.   Like Gordon, Diane is a Lochie being the daughter of Norman "Monkey" Macleod from Ranish (Norman Chalan John).

A Hat Trick of Grandchildren for Christine Danny and DR 

A new generation of Lochies arrived in Crossbost in the last year when Christine Danny and DR became grandparents three times.  Graeme and Lindsay are the proud parents of baby Ruaraidh and have now taken up residence in Crossbost.  Two doors along are Ally and Claire with their young son Domhnall.  Meanwhile young brother Danny and his wife Dorothy completed the hat trick when Grace Christine was born at Raigmore Hospital.  Congratulations and best wishes to the trio of Dannys
