A lively and energetic weekend of historic life, laughter, fun, fighting (reenacted of course!) food and music, all with the general theme of "fun with a purpose"; to continue the honourable tradition of reliving and exploring our rich and diverse history in these wonderful British Isles.Date will be the bank holiday weekend, 21st-24th May 2010, and the venue will be California Farm, just above Swanage near Suttles Quarry. Everything still in planning stages so please leave RSVP's and suggestions on our Feedback page! Already interested we have an Iron Age/Celtic potter, a period Blacksmith, with other crafts such as weaving fabrics and wood turning being represented. We are calling all Iron Age period reenactment groups who are as yet unbooked during May of 2010 to come along and support this.HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!_________________________________HAM HILL 2007Living History DayTwo of our members were fortunate enough to have the opportunity of performing an improvised combat display at this years Ham Hill History day, out near Yeovil. The 2 Joe's (Roberts and Ardern) specialists in our LegionXXXIII signature style "impro-choreographed stunt combat" style of fighting, were the last act to entertain the crowds under the hot sun, reaping some really positive feedback too! (The best comment of the day, given by a lady who'd been watching our practise session, was "you make those other guys look like a bunch of nancies!" Well, we do our best...!) Redbeard McArdern prepares for combat in the main arena... ...where for a time it really seemed he would have his butt severely kicked by Mohawk Burnt Kettle... ...relentlessly the combatants fought, from the early morning sun, til the evening shadows fell, amidst the great standing stones... ...when they dropped their weapons, fierce hand-to-hand combat ensued, neither gaining the upper, um... hand... (incidentally the small boy to the lower right was not harmed during the taking of this picture...) [more photo's on their way!] | ![]() |
