WELCOME
to the Keyboard Music Teachers Online Hall of Fame
In 1980, Keyboard Music Festivals were introduced to the UK by Cled Griffin (right), an independent producer on Swansea Sound Radio who presented a programme called Keyboard.
The festivals included concerts by leading players, demonstations and show-cases by electronic organ manufacturers and master classess by keyboard teachers, many being authors of music tuition books.
This website highlights the teachers who apoeared at festivals that took place over several decades, mainly at Pontin's holiday sites that catered for up to 2,000 music enthusiasts.
In 1985 Roy Neal, the author of several books who was featured at the Pontin's Prestatyn festivals, asked Cled to help him to set up a keyboard festival at Caister, Norfolk, being his neck of the woods.
The Caister events became known as the the Keyboard Cavalcade Festivals and Roy produced a monthly publication of the same name.
In addition to the keyboard festivals held at Pontins and Martyns Leisure, this Online Hall of Fame includes some of the tutors engaged at the Keyboard Cavalcade Festivals and Yamaha events.
The menu provides a facility to nominate other music teachers for this online Hall of Fame. The following considerations apply:
- The teacher must have attended one of the major Keyboard Music Festivals,
- Must have witten a publication for tuition.
Also included in the menu of this website is a feature on PERFECT PITCH, which includes several videos for music teachers to help their pupils.
