What do you think of the Council's decision to hire the top QC in the land using taxpayers money?

Dundee City Council have the audacity and nerve to go spending hard earned taxpayers money from the public purse despite the fact we're informed every day about more spending cuts. Who is responsible for running this council? They ought to stand back and have a good hard look at what they are doing, believe you me it's not going unnoticed. I think we should all stand together on this one, you have my full support. Good luck Mr and Mrs Ross.
Comment from James McKenzie at 18:08 on 30 December 2012.
Your right Justin, who do this bunch think they are treating us all like idiots. To go spending £25,000 on a QC is quite frankly pathetic. This case has been running for about 5-6 years and must have cost hundreds of thousands of taxpayers money which they have cleverly hidden from us, they have said this information is not recorded, it's a deliberate ploy in order to pull the wool over the eyes of the people of Dundee. Disgusting tactics by a totally inept council. Dundee City Council should be grossly ashamed of themselves.

This spineless SNP council shouldn't be allowed to get away with this carry on. There must be someone with authority in this council who's seeking revenge on this lady winning her tribunal with the expertise of Solicitor John Muir. What is it they're out to prove? This costly exercise fails to impress anyone. They ignore public protests and carry on regardless spending taxpayers money then wonder why they're voted out of office.

A lot of people appear to be off-track and missing the point made by Vic Ross.
I think he has every right to be angry, spending £25,000 on a rich QC is regarded as being highly improper and indefensible in terms of the responsible use of public money. This is no more than an improper way of featherbedding the few at the expense of the many. Taxpayers do not expect their money – or their trust in probity in governance – to be abused in this way.

The public appear to be backing Mr Ross and criticising the council for spending all this money on a wealthy QC. Easy to see why, we keep hearing of more cutbacks but it's ok for them to behave outrageously, meanwhile we are forced to tighten our belts. Dundee City Council are a public disgrace. This city is widely known for its jute, jam and dodgy councillors.

I refer to this article written by Derek Alexander on 27 Dec 2009.
"Outrage as teacher's website sells kinky schoolgirl outfits".
Since the publication of this harmful article the teacher in question was found to have been unfairly dismissed by Dundee City Council. The judgement of the employment tribunal made public last year was unanimous in its decision and found senior education staff, HR staff and Director of Education Anne Wilson to be "unreliable witnesses", and that during an appeal hearing, the Lord Provost was reported as being "on a Jolly". False documentation was presented on behalf of the council and the same material was issued to the GTCS in order to have an innocent teacher struck-off. The timing of the article was deliberate, it was published prior to the employment tribunal in order to cause maximum damage to Linda Ross. The employment judge and panel obviously did not believe this reporter's side of the story. Mrs Ross has every right to sue for defamation.

Well done to Linda and Vic Ross. It took a long time but you beat them in the end. The people of Dundee should be proud of you both. You have been vindicated of any blame, but Dundee City Council is well tarnished.
