WILTSHIRE HORN SHEEP
Originating from the Wiltshire Downs, the Wiltshire Horn is an attractive, large, white fleeced breed of sheep.Unique amongst British sheep is that this fleece, a mixture of short wool & hair is shed naturally each spring time. The ewes are excellent mothers, very protective of their young and provide plenty of milk. The absence of wool means the lambs can easily find the teats. The rams make an excellent prime lamb sire, transmitting liveliness to their lambs at birth who achieve early maturity.Wiltshire Horn lamb is lean and tender with a very good flavour, carcase weights of 20kg off grass with little or no concentrates is common.
