The Inverness Mountaineering Club has a regular schedule of day and weekend meets throughout the year. The meets list is updated regularly by the Meets Secretary. If you would like to attend a Meet to see how you like it, please contact the named person leading that Meet, or the Meets Secretary, Melanie Veal, meets.secretary@invernessmountaineeringclub.com. We look forward to meeting you! Rules and Regs follow after the Meets List.
Rules for Weekend Meets
1. A bookings list will open on the 4th Thursday before the Meet.
2. Members must pay full meet fees at time of booking places. Any members unable to book in person may telephone the Meets Secretary. However places cannot be confirmed unless full payment is received within 3 days. Any member cancelling their paid place on a meet will only receive a refund at the discretion of the Meets Secretary as the Club’s liability varies from meet to meet (we do not try to turn a profit on meets!).
3. Bookings are taken on a first come first served basis. If additional names are received on the day the hut list becomes full, a ballot may be held at the discretion of the Meets Secretary for the remaining places. In addition the Meets Secretary will keep a reserve list in case of cancellations.
4. Members shall have priority over non-members in attending Club meets. Members may invite guests on mountaineering or climbing meets subject to space being available, although no guest may attend more than one Club meet during any one financial year.
5. In the absence of the Meets Secretary at any meet, the Meets Secretary may appoint another member to co-ordinate the meet.
6. No dogs will be allowed in huts and must be kept outside at all times.
Day Meets
For day meets a meet contact is given who will choose the venue and who you can call for more details, but booking is not required. They will generally nominate a time and a meeting point in or around Inverness so transport can be shared. Day meets are split between Saturdays and Sundays to make them accessible to as many members as possible.
Incidents / Accidents
Active members pay a portion of their MCofS subscription for Civil Liability Insurance (CLI) - not be confused with travel or activity insurance. CLI covers members from the effects of an incident they are responsible for, with some exceptions. Members are covered on mountaineering activities undertaken with the Club, another club or individually. See www.mcofs.org.uk/civil-liability-insurance-for-clubs.asp for more details. In an incident involving yourself it may need reporting. Do not accept responsibility, contact a Committee Member for further advice.
Please keep to these procedures as they are there to ensure fairness for all. Bear in mind, however, that “The Meets Secretary” shall have the role of arranging a series of outdoor meets through the year. The Meets Secretary shall not be responsible for any further arrangements such as arranging transport and/or food, information about the area, or equipment and clothing required. Such information shall be the responsibility of the individual member at all times.” (IMC Constitution).
