Dochgarroch Roost Visit, near Inverness Weds 2nd or Thurs 3rd August

A visit to a Natterer’s roost to count bats emerging from the roost, with the possibility of hand netting the bats to see them up close. Pipistrelles and Brown long eared bats have also been recorded in the area in previous surveys.

Abriachan Roost Visit, near Drumnadrochit Friday 11th August

Looking for pipistrelles and other bats around the buildings and trees at Abriachan.

NBMP Waterways surveys throughout August

Learn how to do a Waterway Survey and contribute to bat conservation fieldwork. Two visits are carried out during August, the first between 1st and 15th August, the second between 15th and 30th August. Two areas will be surveyed by the group this year:

- Ness Islands Waterway Survey, Inverness.

​- Caledonian Canal, near Inverness Leisure

- Rogie waterways survey, near Garve with the

 

please note that the ground is difficult terrain underfoot in the dark so may not be suitable for everyone

Remember that if you have already signed up to do a NBMP waterways survey please let us know so that we can keep a record and get in touch if you need to borrow any equipment for your surveys.

 

Ness Islands - Sunday 4th November 11am

Bat boxes and tree endoscopy practice.
We are planning to have a look at the bat boxes on the Ness Islands in Inverness and also have look for tree roosts in Glen Urquhart woods in Drumnadrochit. 

The plan is to meet at the car park to the Ness Islands on Bught Road at 11am. We will then be heading to Drumnadrochit in the afternoon, stopping for some lunch along the way.
