Welcome to Hyperlexia UK
Our aim is to provide information, support, and resources for parents, carers and educators of children with hyperlexia, and associated disorders.
I am a developmental psychologist, but more importantly I am a parent of five wonderful children. Our youngest son has hyperlexia and is currently awaiting assessment for autism. As parents we have struggled to find information about hyperlexia, and have found that the majority of professionals, particularly in the UK, have never seen the condition before.
We decided to set up this organisation, to try and provide a single source of information for both parents and professionals; to raise awareness of the condition; and hopefully to develop a support network for affected families.
If you have concerns about your child, and have not already done so, please consult with your health visitor, GP, or staff at your child's nursery/school.
