Touring Women's Institute Venues - Moulton
by Graham - 11:28 on 12 January 2019
If you are on the standard January diet, don't go to Moulton WI. Moulton is in Northamptonshire and the first venue on my speaking tour. Everything else about the venue was great: a large audience, a microphone for my hoarse and slowly vanishing voice, heating (baby, it was cold outside), laughter in all the right places and a huge round of applause at the end. Probably in relief that I'd finally shut up.
But the array of cakes, all worthy of a Great British Bake-off entrant, meant I either had to break my New Year Fast, and with it at least two resolutions, or appear churlish and ungrateful. I suppose I should have been more prepared, but at least one question had been answered: I had run to earth the first element in the WI tag-line 'Jam and Jerusalem.'
A day later and the reason for the second element would become clear.
But for now, thanks ladies of Moulton, for being my guinea pigs (the first ever public outing for my talk on 'Late onset creativity') and for being such an appreviative audience. The tour (sponsored by Zimmer Frames inc.) moves on.
