THE NEW OBAN LIBRARY:
77 Albany Street, OBAN.
the site of the former Job Centre.

Councillor Banks opened the new Oban Library to the public on the 2nd March 2006; World Book Day.
- The new premises give enhanced services and facilities, and the easier access which it is hoped will encourage more people to make greater use of the library.
- The overall area available to the public has doubled allowing for an improved children’s area, better presentation of stock, space for book promotion and display, and adequate room for wheelchairs.
- The People’s Network computers, providing Internet access, will be placed in a section of the main public area making staff supervision and assistance easier.
- There is now a room for use as a quiet area for people studying, carrying out research, or doing homework.
- There is also a small room for the library’s microfilm reader/ printer, much valued by genealogists and researchers.
- Beyond the public area there will be improved provision for backup stock and the mobile library reserve books.
