The editor reads and re-reads your pages with great care. Ensuring spelling and grammar is correct and text consistent with a publisher’s style.
A copy editor will:
- Spot errors
- Keep to the style of the publishers
- Reshape the work if necessary
- Research additional material
- May change author suggestion for chapter headings and titles
- Check facts
- Spend time with the author, smooth over problems
- Discuss rewrites
- Work with the printers
- Stays alert for any libellous content
A proofreader will check that all corrections by the editor have been made for typesetting. The author will be asked to read a set of proofs.
A proofreader will spot:
- Spelling mistakes
- Bad grammar
- Incorrect punctuation
- Transposed material
- Photos or drawings in the wrong place.
Please prepare your typescript for proofing and editing in regular font with double spacing. If you know the style of your targeted Publisher, include any known specification.
