Comments and memories on Guestbook
We welcome memories and comments on our Guestbook page - and any photos for our photo gallery - if you have them.
One reader says that there is little mentioned about the staff of the Bingo Hall so perhaps we can look forward to hearing more about them. It is true that this website dwells more on the cinema days because it was built for showing films - even from the days when films had no sound track.
The more we record about the history of the Empire the more future generations will know how we lived during the time the building was used as an entertainment centre.

Empire Memorial Plaque
A new button has been added to the menu: 'Memorial Plaque'. It gives details of those responsible for the Empire's demolition. Just like this website, it will serve as constant memory of a building that provided so much entertainment since the day it was opened in October 1926.
The building survived the war years (1939 - 1945) but sadly not NPT CB Council in 2012.
It is very likely that many residents will call the plaque - a plaque of shame!
