Saturday 10 October CS Vs Grange

Hi Guys,

Another great result last Saturday 11 - 0 win against the Grange.

From the very first second the girls were on top and it carried on til the end.
The Grange are at the bottom of our league for a reason but we still had to score the goals and there were lots of good goals.  The man of the match was Carole and she really deserved it she scored 4 goals and set up most of the others.
The goalscorers were Carole 4,  Nat 2, Jen 2, Katy 2 and Si 1.  In Katy's first match she scored 2! It's great to see as many different goalscorers.

Not only did we score all the goals but we were passing the ball much better and there was plenty of communication which is great to see.

We scored 5 in the first half and kept it going with another 6 in the second.

Well done ladies we can take these wins to Saturdays game.

And finally a word for the umpires you were awesome.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

Saturday 3rd October Edinburgh University 1 Civil Service 8
A great result.

This was a really good game to watch we were passing the ball great using all the pitch and players.
We had 6 different scorers Carole, Si, Nat, Jen, Isla and Sharon. Although the university team weren't great we still had to score the goals. I don't think Jo in goals had much to do.

We played as a team which is what Carole is trying to get us to do every week.

This is short and sweet this week, hopefully we can make it 3 in a row tomorrow against the Grange.

Saturday September 26th C S  v Borders
Score was a 3 - 0 win for us.

I was umpiring our game on Saturday. l think we deserved the win everyone put 100% into it.

There were a lot of different ladies that got votes but Claire Watson edged it. Fiona got a couple of votes well deserved, this is her first game back after giving birth to the lovely Rory.  She only came to watch but offered to go in goals and let Shirley off the hook.

We scored just after 5 minutes. Our first goal of the season. Not sure who scored it? Oh yes I remember now, it was Si.  Excellent goal best goal I've ever seen (is that what I was meant to say Si?). We kept putting pressure on them came close a few times but it ended 1 - 0 in the first half.

In the second half we carried on playing OK with Carole scoring our second goal and I thought it was the best of the 3 (only my opinion) it came from a penalty corner ball hit to top of the dee to Carole a 1- 2 with Flo and a reverse flick into the goal. The third goal came near the end of the match but just as important and Kerrie scored that one, if you look at the picture's on Facebook you will see Kerrie was very happy and quite rightly so.

Well done to everyone who played hopefully we can carry on with a win at our next game against Edinburgh University on Saturday.

Oh and well done to the umpires, thought they were great.

Sunday 31 March

Game was at Peebles and it ended 4 - 0 to Peebles. I wasn't standing on the side line yesterday as I was umpiring so will write this from a different view.

Anyway the ladies played well in the first half, we probably had 60% of the ball but couldn't score a goal, which didn't help. They scored with only 1 min 36 secs on the watch. They are a decent team and have already been promoted to division 1 so they didn't have any pressure on them. They scored 1 more in the first half.

The second half I still thought we had a chance with all the possession we had in the first half but it wasn't to be, they scored 2 more goals. Carole was in a lot of pain by the end of the game and was playing up front. Everyone gave it all but we had no luck.

Our last game is Tuesday and still not 100% sure if we're safe so a wee win on Tuesday will make us safe.

Tuesday 3 March - Home to Boroughmuir

Status: Still not warm after an hour in shower.

Ladies, good battle again tonight in close to arctic conditions.  The weather didn't seem to faze us though, from passing to tackling the play across the pitch.  It was good when we used both sides. We were two nil up at half time - goals from Kirsty and Jen. We didn't let up and battling though their whole team in the the 25 was a tough order. They managed to steal a lucky top D strike to make it 2 1, propably their only shot on goal. But with the attitude that we started with Kirsty slotted in our third - Happy Days!

Please ladies take all this play onto our next game.

Step up for next game is to work on our communication and our playing the ball around.

Bring on Stirling.  Well Done Ladies

saturday 28 Feb 2015 - Home to Cala

Saturday's result was a cracking win  3 - 2.

At the start of the day we didn't know if we had a team. Carole and kerrie were phoning to see who we could get to play, Carole got Shirley out of retirement to come along and Kerrie's friend Morag was going to go in goals not that she'd played there before. Anyway we managed to get 11 and didn't need Morag, and Shirley was a sub.

The first half we played a lot better than we have in a long time, midway through the first half Carole scored at the back post. Cala did put some pressure on us but with CT making some good saves and Sharon playing great we ended the first half 1 nil up.

The second half starts with Shirley on, Kerrie hurt her wrist at the end of the first half. We had to move people about but we still played well with Carole scoring 2 more goals to put us 3 nil up now. There was about 10 mins to go they scored 2 goals with in minutes although one of there goals hit there feet, the last few minutes were scary, Carole would have been a bit upset if we ended with a draw.

The whistle went thankfully as we definitely were the better team with everyone playing really well and hopefully take this on to Tuesday's game. Sharen won player of the game and deserved it with Carole and CT following.

Congratulations to Tahirah for passing her outdoor umpiring badge.

Ok I'm off to Spain for a week so no blog for 2 games.

Good luck for these games.

Hi Guys

Saturday's game at North Berwick ended with a 3 - 0 defeat to Fidra Lions.

We only had 12 for the game on Saturday but on Tuesday we only had 9, but thanks to our wonderful secretary Kerrie, we ended with a full team.

It wasn't the greatest game to watch; we were missing a few of our key players and it showed, Sally did a great job as captain and ended up with player of the day followed closely by Flo and CT.

Kerrie is trying to arrange our AGM which is important that we have as many of you there as possible.

Saturday 31 January 2015

Hi guys,

Saturday's game ended cs 0  watsonians. 4

The first half was not to bad we played very well and kept the score down to 1 -0, we actually had most of the play in the first half but couldn't score. Watsonians umpire wasn't up to much which was very frustrating.  At half time carole spoke to the girls what she wanted in the second half.

The second half didn't go the way carole wanted, we didn't play the way we did in the first, it didn't help we lost clare g with a pulled muscle.

The score 4 - 0 flattered them a bit but if we don't score any goals ourselfs this is what happens and we did have some good chances to score especially in the first half.

Isla won the player of the day which I think was right.

Finish with good news Fi and Ben are expecting their first baby in August.

Congratulations from me and the whole team xxxxx

Saturday 24 January 2015

Hi Guys,

Saturdays game ended WIT 3   CS 1

It wasn't a great start to the game on Saturday with CT being ill we had no goalie, everyone was asked if they would like to go in goals with Sharon kindly offering, Sharon hasn't been in goals before and did a great job.

The first half was tuff as WIT were in our half alot but everyone played well and kept them down to 1 goal, we had a few chances and Jen took 1 of them thankfully. It didn't help when the umpire for WIT was a numpty which Carole would agree as she had a few words for him, but she was a good girl and kept quiet after he stopped the game and warned her. WIT agreed that he was a numpty too.

The second half was just as difficult as the first half, at half time carole asked the girls to try and pass the ball round rather than go through them but it didn't happen as much as carole would have liked and of course it makes it harder to keep the ball, we will have to start doing this more if we are going to have a chance of scoring goals and winning games. WIT scored 2 more goals to win 3 -1.

Sally won the player of the game and most of the other votes went to the defenders and goalie.

Over and out for now.

Saturday 6 December 2014,

I will start with the score yesterday CS 1  Peebles 2 (1 and a foot).

The first half was great to watch the grit and determination by everyone was great to see and I think Peebles were a bit surprised by how well you played, I think they were coming for an easy game. We scored in the first half with a good team goal with emily scoring. CT also had some great saves. We had 5 subs which was working well but poor Sharon had to come off first she hurt her stomach then she was whacked by a stick on the ankle and couldn't come back on. So we were 1 up at half time.

The second half was really hard. Peebles had uped their game and we were defending most of the half. Peebles scored half way through the second half to draw level and 5 mins later is when they scored with there foot the second goal but Maggie didn't see it and their umpire didn't see it either, mmmm. Maggie stopped the game and asked the girl who scored but she didn't admit it, so goal stood. We were gutted with playing so well and getting beat with a goal like that. A few of us lost our tempers and had made comments in which I apologise as I should know better.

Anyway everyone played well with a few of the girls getting votes but again CT had made lots of saves in the second half and won player of the day.

Finishing on a positive the first half was the best I've seen you playing this season.

Have a great night on Thursday at Hot Dub.

Have a lovely xmas and new year.

Saturday 15 November

The result on Saturday was 4 - 1 win to Stirling.

Not a great result but this team is at the top of the league, although we got beat we did play better than last week.
They were a very physical team and we always tend to suffer when playing teams like this as we're not like that. I think we are going to have to get a bit tougher against teams like this. Sharon back from her trip to Egypt got our only goal and Fi saved a penalty in the last few seconds, she was determined to save it as the girl taking the penalty had knocked her off her feet earlier in the game.

Carole is trying to get the team to pass and move, more communication and a lot more on a Tuesday at training, and I know a lot of you are there most weeks but the more training you go to the more you will learn.

Fi and Clare G got most of the votes, again the right result.

I will finish on a positive, Me, Carole,Karen and Shirley are all off to Spain on Wednesday for 5 days.

Next game is down in the borders on the 29th November.

Saturday 8 November

Cala 5s v CS

Hi Guy's

So Sat result was a 5  -  2 win, excellent result!!

Lets start with the weather, it was raining very heavy from start to finish nobody had a dry bit of clothing.

Cala played with a kick and back but we had to try and forget that, what happens, when you take a shot at goal you don't want to hit the ball hard so not to hurt her, I think most of the girls did try.

The first half we scored 2 goals without playing very well but Fi did save us quite a lot, in the second half we scored 3 goals without playing very well, do you see a theme here. In the last 2 games we have scored 9 goals without playing great, I think apart from a 20 mins spell in last weeks game. So imagine what's going to happen when we start playing better.

The goal scorers this week were Carole 2, Nat 1, Si 1 and Jenny 1. We're getting a good mixture of scorers.

Fi won the player of the day followed closely by Sally, both played very well, we just need to start using what the coach is showing you at training on Tuesday night's, so everyone has to go to training!!!!!!! and then I can start saying a lot more on how well were playing.

Finishing on a positive it was a great result, we know we can score goals.

Sat 1 November - back after the break!

CS v Fidra Lions

Saturdays result ended 4 - 3 to us but shouldn't have been that close, we let them in the last 15mins.

The first half we didn't play all that well, there were some of you not able to get into the game. Fidra scored midway through the first half and if it wasn't for CT in goals it could have been a couple more. Carole had asked me to count how many passes were made in the first half that had 2 passes or more and in 35 mins we had 10, not too good.

Anyway the second half we changed things around and for 20mins we played great, first goal was in the first 5 mins a great wee run by Karen in the dee and scored. The second goal from a penalty corner, a shot from the top dee a cracker from Nat. We started to sub and Jenny was only on a couple of mins and scored a great goal, while she was falling, 4th goal was Carol Currie hit in the dee through a few girls into the back of net.

The last 15 mins don't know what happened but it was panic stations they scored 2 goals quite quickly and the last 6 mins we held on thankfully, Carole would not have been happy with a draw.

There were votes for a few of the girls but Karen had the most the right decision.

Hopefully we can play like the first 20mins of the second half next Saturday against Cala.

Sat 11 October

Saturday's result wasn't what we wanted we were beaten 3 - 2 but the first half was the best I've seen us play this season and we were up 2 - 1 at half time, with kirsty and carol currie scoring. In the second half fitness and injuries didn't help and they scored from 2 penalty corners, we almost equalised in the last hit of the game, we had a penalty corner and karen took a shot and it was so close but our luck wasn't in.

The injuries yesterday had us having 2 (isla hurting her head having to get an xray and tahirah hurting her hand) going to hospital but both ok & carole's back, foot, leg, toe (I think that was all that was hurting)made carole have to come off.

We have a 2 week break and me personally wish we didn't and could carry on getting better each week.

Anyway that's it for now.

Saturday 27th Sept  C.S V Watsonians

I was umpiring on Sat so was watching the game from a different angle, we got beat 3 - 0 but we only had 13 players and out of the 13, one was CT who was only going to go on if really desperate as her foot was still really sore, one was Carole who got a really bad injury in indoor on Wednesday (in which she couldn't drive home and after all her other problems she was gutted) so Carole couldn't run so stood up front and hoped she would get the ball, Kerrie hurt her back after 20 mins and had to come off and of course Fi's leg was still sore. Thankfully Julie made it (I think she pulled some poor person's teeth out as fast as possible to get to the game in time). They did as well as they could with all the players injuries. So well done to everyone who took part in Saturdays game, not the result we wanted but it was always going to be tuff with all the injuries.

I want to thank Justine for not only helping to make the sandwiches for the tournament and serve at the tournament but she sold another £35 worth at her work, so a big thank you from all at CS (CT can you show this to Justine I don't have her email address).

This wasn't a really cheery email but will finish by saying well done Europe in the Ryder cup.

28 September 2014

As I said last week, I would a write a few words on all the games this season.
To start with I was gutted for you the score 4 - 2 to W I T flattered them a draw would have been a fair result, they scored 2 goals with less than 5 mins to go. Fi was in a lot of pain yesterday after wednesdays indoor game and was very tough for her, I think she felt better when we went back to the telford arms when she was rubbing the injury better, she said it was the top of her leg but was doing a lot of smiling for it being the top of her leg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everybody put in 100% but it was the first game of the season and we still have to gel as a team with alot of new girls joining, IHave to mention some of the girls as they played very well Nat, Isla and Kerry and with the votes yesterday I think most of you agreed, well done to nat with 7 votes and isla 6 votes.
We have to work on a few things for next week, feet I thought I was watching a fottie match at some points of the game, we have to shout more for the ball and not to panic and hit the ball anywhere.
I'm sure you don't need me to go on you know yourselves and carole will be talking about next weeks game on tuesday with what she's looking for.
I'm going to finish on a positive note we scored the best goal of the game, some nice passing with nat hitting the ball into the dee and jenny hit first time into the goal excellent, so carole will be wanting a few more goals like that next week.
