Carol Barton Jones
Carol has always been interested in creativity and experiments in artistic expression, having an appreciation of the work of others and a compulsion to try out her own skills. From her first attempts at producing work for public viewing, a flamboyant but unappreciated mural in crayon on the sitting room wall at the age of three, to the present, where she is exploring the potential of new perspectives, she has found painting both therapeutic and pleasurable.
Her adult life has also been dominated by a passion for education and a strong belief in the transformative influences of both art and education. This has resulted in her taking a keen interest in art works in general; more specifically she has established a Gallery which promotes the work of outstanding local artists. While involving herself in the commercial art world she has also continued her own artistic pursuits.
Her recent paintings, focusing on optical effects and strong colour, are inspired by literary quotations as well as song lyrics, at the same time they engage with the idea that art can be a significant player in improving the way in which we live and work.
